is a city located in Brazos County, Texas, where it serves as the county seat. Bryan is situated in southeast Central Texas, right in the right of the Brazos Valley. The city borders College Station, and the two cities are generally referred to as the Bryan-College Station metropolitan area. According to the U.S. Census of 2016, Bryan, TX has an increasing population of 83,260.
The area that is present-day Bryan, TX was originally part of a land grant from Spain to Moses Austin, who's son helper bring settlers to the area. The city received its name from Austin's great nephew, William Joel Bryan. Over time, the region began to flourish. By 1866, Bryan had replaced Boonville as the county seat of Brazos County. By 1871, Bryan became officially incorporated as a city in Texas. Today, the city is well-known for the Carnegie Library of Bryan. The Carnegie Library opened in 1902, using a $10,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie. Bryan, TX is also known for its proximity to Texas A&M College, located just south of the city in College Station, TX.
